Double Vanity Top in Goldstone Granite

A Double Vanity Top on a Furniture-styled Bathroom Vanity

The vintage oak style of this master bathroom vanity is the perfect base for a double vanity top made from Goldstone granite. See how the cabinets sit up on little legs, and look like old chests of drawers, right down to the classic drawer pulls.

This style has become even more popular lately, with gracious-living stores like Restoration Hardware showcasing double vanities with light-colored stone tops that look like old pieces of furniture.

This granite is light cream, with flecks of rust and brown. The edge profile is a double pencil edge – just a slight softening of the edges of the stone.

The two sinks are undermount sinks, in a style we sell called the “acorn”. These white porcelain sinks are medium-sized, so that more counter space is preserved on the double vanity top. Bigger sinks often eat up a lot of space when two of them are in the same stretch of counter.

Some of the other stones that are popular for double-vanity tops for cabinets that look like old furniture are creme marfil and bianco carrera marble.

To get the “look”, the stone needs to have either a flat-polish edge (no rounding), or a subtle double-pencil edge (usually the flat-polish).  Also, the overhang on the front and sides is usually shallower than the typical 1.5-inch countertop overhang.

Drilling the Sink Holes

Drilling sinks holes is messy work – lots and lots of dust. The three holes for each of these sinks were drilled outside for the 8-inch widespread faucets chosen by the homeowner.

Sometimes the holes need to be drilled when the counter is in place. Usually they are drilled outside, which makes for much easier clean-up after the double vanity top is installed.
